Celebrating The Life of Murray Milrod

MURRAY MILROD Murray Milrod, 92, of Lake Worth, passed away Saturday, December 12. Born in Poland, he spent his early life in Canada before his family moved to New York where they owned a stationary/candy story on the Lower East Side. After attending City College of the City University of New York, he joined the US Army Air Force during WWII. Trained as a navigator and commissioned as an officer, Captain Milrod was a member of the Eighth Air Force. Stationed in England, he flew numerous missions over Germany in B-24 Liberators. After WWII, he married Helen Kirsner; with the couple celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary before Helen’s death. On Long Island, Murray was the co-owner of a small chain of independent toy stores before moving onto a career in the garment business where he rose to the position of executive vice president. Murray and Helen raised their family on Long Island before retiring to Palm Beach County during the 1980s. A passionate Jewish scholar, Murray chaired the Building Committee and was President of Temple Beth Shalom in Smithtown, Long Island. In Florida, he was the President of Temple Beth Tikvah of Greenacres. He played a significant role in Beth Tikvah’s design and actively supervised the construction of the original building. He is survived by a sister, Sylvia Rubin; daughters, Marion, Alice (and son-in-law, Tony Krol) and Susan; son, Robert (and daughter-in-law, Tre Milrod) and five beloved grandchildren, David Tyler (married to Johanna Tyler), Rachel Krol and Naomi, Rivka and Noah Milrod. In addition, he leaves behind several dozen nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, (today) December 15, at Temple Beth Tikvah, 4550 Jog Road, Greenacres and internment will take place at Star of David Cemetery, Palm Beach Gardens. Donations in Murray’s memory may be made to Temple Beth Tikvah, Greenacres, FL.

We went apple picking!  Things are going well.  The best season in Ridgefield is definitely Autumn.  It’s time to get ready for the winter.
